We went to see Cars this past Saturday. We all really enjoyed the movie and Ashley and I laughed all the way through. My personal favorite was "Mater" the tow truck (Tow Mater... get it?) The movie was a really good story about slowing down and enjoying life. Most of it was based in a small Route 66 town bypassed by the interstate highway. It was fun seeing some of the people behind the cars. Some of the race car voices were the actual NASCAR drivers and celebrities which was really funny. I really recommend seeing it. Pixar movies are top notch. Now Caleb likes watching car races on TV and matching his race cars to the cars on TV.
Sunday we had a Sunday School potluck lunch. We had a good time there and the food was great. Even though we ended up in the overflow room, we had good company to visit with. With all the kids, we had over 85 people stay for lunch. Ashley's corn casserole, which is always a hit, was all gone before we went home.
Sunday evening was spent watching local police departments chase an 18 wheeler at 15 Mph across the metroplex. It started north of Plano as a truck-jacking and ended west of Fort Worth. There were hundreds of people actually going to the interstate just to watch the slow speed chase (the front tires of the truck were gone for the last 2 hours of the 3+ hour pursuit.) Finally when the truck got out of populated areas, DPS troopers shot out the tires, radiator and fuel tank, disabling the truck. A couple of hous later police ended the standoff with tear gas and the driver/hostage was freed as the gunman was arrested.
