Hiking in Arkansas

This weekend a friend and I took off to go hiking in Arkansas. As of Friday afternoon, the weather didn't look too good but we went ahead with our plans to drive to Hot Springs National Park to hike in the mountains there. Saturday morning was cloudy and cool but at least it wasn't raining, so we headed out to get coffee before heading to the hills. We found the National Park visitor's center and a ranger there helped direct us to a good hiking spot on Hot Springs Mountain. After a trip up into Hot Springs Tower, we were soon headed down the trail. The views were great and the trails were clear and good for hiking. We make the mile-long trip that we planned and decided to go to another trail on West Mountain in the park. There we made another mile-long hike around the summit of that mountain. It was good to get out and away from class work for a while. I think in the future we are going to try to hike the longer 8-mile Sunset trail that circles all the way around the national park.
