Teaching Classes this Summer

After my adventures in Albania and Greece this summer, I had the privilege of helping teach a couple of classes at DTS. The first was Intermediate Greek, the week after I returned home from my trip. It had turned out that Dr. Harris, the professor for the Intermediate Greek course had another course that overlapped the final week of the Greek class. He asked me if I would be willing to stand in as the instructor for the last week of class and teach the unit on Textual Criticism. It was an honor to have been asked and a big compliment that I was considered strong enough in the field of New Testament Textual Criticism to teach the introduction to the subject. My portion of teaching the class consisted of two sections of the same class (one morning and one afternoon) for three days (Friday, Monday, and Wednesday). It was pretty strange being in front of a class at DTS as an instructor, if even for a few days. All in all, it was a very positive experience.

In Late July, I was asked to help with another class. This time I assisted with a class in research methods. This was a week-long class in the use of tools for research and writing. Teaching this class was a lot of fun as I was able to demonstrate the use of technology in research. Ultimately, this led to helping teach a couple of half-day workshops on research tools during orientation in late August.
