Parent's Night

Last night was parent's night at AWANA. Caleb took a friend with him and Ashley went with them for their activities. I went to Cubbies with Jacob. We played Legos while all of the kids arrived and then went into the main room for story time. All of the kids sat around the story teller and listened and answered questions. Last night's lesson was on prayer. Next we went into the small groups where Jacob and I colored while waiting for his turn to recite his verses. He did a good job and caught up on his lessons after missing a couple of times. Once all of the kids finished with their verses, it was game time. They played "Doggie, Doggie, Where's Your Bone"... One kid would sit with his back to the group while another would sneak up and take a small toy from behind the one who is "It". Then "It" gets up and tries to guess who took the toy. The one with the toy then becomes "It". I learned one thing from watching them play the game... 4 year olds can't keep a secret very well. Nearly every child who had the toy hidden behind them was pointed out by several others in the group. If that did not happen, "It" just went down the line of children until they happened upon the one with the toy. It was really funny watching how clever little kids can be when they want to win a game. After game time we went to have a snack of a Valentine cookie and a cup of water. Jacob only ate a couple of bites of his sugar-coated cookie, which was fine with me. Our time ended with award time. Jacob received another patch for his vest and was happy. We had a good time together and I'm sure he will expect it to be a regular thing next week.

This week I'm working on my first exegetical paper for Hebrew. This semester, I'm taking my 4th and probably final Hebrew class, Advanced Greek Grammar, and I will begin Intertestamental History in April. I'm also doing thesis work. This is a busy semester!
